Team Australia has emerged victorious against the Sri Lanka in the very first match between the countries in the five-match T20 series.
The Australians clinched the victory via DLS method in the game being played on the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney on 11th February Friday.
Australia batted first and managed to put up a meagre score of just 149/9 runs but they managed to restrict Sri Lanka to just 122/8 in 19 overs.
As the Australians put up a low score in the first innings, they had an uphill challenge at the end of the first half but Sri Lanka’s poor batting performance made things easier for the winning side.
The top scorer for the Australians was Ben MCDermott having put up 53 runs of 41 balls. On the Lankan side, the best performance came from bowler Wanindu Hasaranga who took three wickets.
On the Australian bowling side, Hazewood and Zampa did a phenomenal job and helped the team to emerge winners.
The Australians beats the Lankans by 20 runs and grabbed the first victory in the tournament.
Sri Lankas were left quite disappointed but have 4 more matches ahead to beat the world champions.
